In 1865 Jefferson Thompson would make fresh cheese using the milk from his West Marin dairy farm and ship it down to the dockworkers in San Francisco. He soon became known for his European style cheeses, Brie, Camembert, and his own Breakfast Cheese, and founded the creamery. Marin French Cheese still operates in the same location today, making them the longest continually operating cheese company in America. They still create the same classic French style cheeses, and use only the freshest milk from neighboring family dairies. The cheeses are still hand made and hand packed. They have remained true to their origins and have been honored with numerous national and international awards over the years.

 

Petites

The Petites are elegant triple crème, 4-ounce disks made with fresh cow’s milk and cream. Each disc is handcrafted.  These are perfect for picnics and casual entertaining, elegant cheese plates, or just enjoying on their own.

Triple Crème, fresh cheese.  Essentially their award winning Triple Crème, before the fleuri develops.  As the cheese matures there is an expected level blooming to occur on the surface.  This is a mild, buttery cheese, ideal for early in the day with fresh fruit and a croissant.
