These Maine oysters are bottom planted in three sites in the cold Damariscotta River down from Great Salt Bay. Glidden Point osyters are slow grown. It takes 4 years to grow these large, strong-shelled oysters. The oysters are hand-harvested at low tide or by divers in the deeper cold waters. Glidden Points have a smooth shell, deep cup, firm meats and briny taste.
