Atlantic Salmon is a silver-skinned fish with distinct dark blue-green, cross-like spots over the body and head, and above the lateral line. The underside of the fish is nearly all white. All Atlantic Salmon may look similar, but they are typically raised and fed in a variety of ways, setting each brand apart.
Superior Fresh Salmon are raised locally without the use of pesticides, antibiotics, hormones, and GMOs. They are fed a complete organic diet which gives them twice the Omega 3’s. The fish are raised in land based aquaponic ecosystem in Hixton, Wisconsin, where 99.9% of the water is recirculated. The water is recirculated among Superior Fresh's greenhouses capable of producing over 7 million pounds of organic leafy greens per year. In addition, Superior Fresh restores nearly 800 acres of its land through a native restoration project.
Superior Fresh's Salmon has a rich, clean flavor and carries the following certifications: BAP Certified, Salmon Welfare Certified, and Certified non-GMO. Superior Fresh’s method has also earned the rank of “Best Choice,” a GREEN rating from the Monterey Bay Aquarium Seafood Watch.
